North American Bowhunting

In the USA, as well with most other hunting methods, using bowhunting equpiment is often regulated within the state. These regulations often address issues such as the hunting unit, the season, and the type of species that can be taken, whether it be male or female. In most cases, a very special season of archery is set aside, to insure no interference from the rifle hunters. There are also regulations on the type of bowhunting equipment used to insure you are making your killing the most humane way possible, such regulation as minimum draw weight for the bowhunting equipment, etc.

In the year of 1819, man state allowed able bodied hunters the usage of crossbows within their bowhunting equipment, a very controversial move for bow hunters since a cross bow is much like a gun. However, many states restrict using crossbows to a crossbow bowhunting equipment season.
