In the USA, as well with most other hunting methods, using bowhunting equpiment is often regulated within the state. These regulations often address issues such as the hunting unit, the season, and the type of species that can be taken, whether it be male or female. In most cases, a very special season of archery is set aside, to insure no interference from the rifle hunters. There are also regulations on the type of bowhunting equipment used to insure you are making your killing the most humane way possible, such regulation as minimum draw weight for the bowhunting equipment, etc.

In the year of 1819, man state allowed able bodied hunters the usage of crossbows within their bowhunting equipment, a very controversial move for bow hunters since a cross bow is much like a gun. However, many states restrict using crossbows to a crossbow bowhunting equipment season.

Unlike the regular rifle hunter, who may be a sick shooter from ranges 200+ yards, most bowhunting equipment users will restrict their shots to 45 yards or even less, most often 20 to 25 yards depending on many factors, such as ability, draw weight, and the target animal in sight. Many bowhunting equpiment users restrict their shooting range in order to ensure that a quick kill will insue. Because bowhunters must be at a very close range to the animal in target, bowhunting is an unbelieveable experience, with added attention to the animals sight, hearing and sense of smell. The limit on effective range create an intmacy with the animal that some bowhunting equipment persons can only dream of.

Most often today, the compound bow is often the weapon of choice for a bowhunting equipment enthusiast, even though recurve bows are not all that uncommon and most of the time legal. The longbows are quieter than more mordern types, and are used to make the bowhunting equipment experiece as traditional as possible. The crowbow is ok for disabled hunters since the hunter doesn't have to draw any weight to the bow.

The bowhunting equipment as of today have improved incredibly over the past few years. Bows are way more accurate and amazingly more powerful. The bowhunting equipment bow of today is very capable and effective of bringing down the hugest game animals. Bowhunting still requipes quote a bit of practice and dedication though. If you are planning to go on a bowhunting expedition, you owe it to the animals to be as adept as you possibly can the bow you are using. If you aren't practicing you aren't going to be accurate and with that being said you will make the animals suffer. The bowhunting equipment technology of the day makes it much easier but that doesn't mean you don't need to practice, don't let your bowhunting equipment sit in your closet all summer and bring it out the night of deer hunting season. You go out and shoot 100 arrows and you think you are ready, no f'n way my friend. There are plenty of ways to keep in touch with your archery skills and keep you on point with your bowhunting equipment not to mention its a hell of a lot of fun.
